Just what is Nova Posse anyway?

Nova Posse is a group of intergalactic freedom fighters from the galaxy of Dimension X. We've been involved in a variety of conflicts, the most famous being the battle to save the galaxy from Lord Mazool. (You can learn more about this battle from The Black Hole Trilogy. In these pages, consider it to have been two years Standard since the Black Hole Trilogy took place.)

Here I have included the profiles of me, plus my five incredible crew members. Read all about us. :-) As soon as I get them, I'll be adding some pics of us, so you don't have to just imagine what we look like!

Oops, I just realized that I forgot to include Qark, our lovable Battle Beast! (Boy was he ticked that I forgot him!) He was originally Sarnath's seeing eye dog, but when Sarnath's sacrificed himself to save the turtles, he jettisoned Qark from his ship. When the turtles went home, they thought he'd be more comfortable with us than on Earth, so we adopted him. (Plus, that's one more thing they DIDN'T want to explain to Master Splinter!)

History: Luna Azul was raised by her mother on an Andrini space station by her mother, a bioengineer of that station, after her father died in a skirmish with Urialin rebels. When she came of age, she went to attend the Nova Military Academy, where she graduated at the head of her class and went on to become a startlingly successful Nova Squadron member. So successful, in fact, that after 5 years of service, she became to first female to ever hold the position of Nova Squadron commander.

After 4 years of service in that area, Luna was appointed to the Nova Commission. She hated the political manuevering that position required, however, and soon quit. Moving into covert operations, Luna served as a deep-cover spy. In the middle of her 3-years service, the year-long Long Red Night occurred as Lord Mazool and his traitorous Nova Squadron allies broke free and wrested several planets from Nova Commission control.

Finally, totally fed up with the Nova Commission and law enforcement, Luna quit the Squadron, bought her own battleship, and established the Nova Posse.

It is worth noting that Luna and Mazool are desperate enemies, and have been since Academy, where they fiercely competed for honors. They met again in the Nova Commission when both were appointed positions in that body. Luna hates Mazool because to her, he is the worst of all the Commission's greed, power-hunger, cruelty, and treachery personified. Mazool mainly hates Luna because of her attempts to foil his rather nasty plans numerous times. Including, of course, the time when a black hole appeared in Dimension X, and Mazool sought to plunder refugee ships fleeing the nearby solar systems. Although Nova Posse was not technically responsible for Mazool's defeat, its members are given credit for their bravery and valience under fire, and Mazool blames the entire thing on Luna and her crew.

History: Exeen and her many sisters were raised by their parents in the lavish Presidential Palace of Quadral, since their father was (is) the life-time president of the Quadral Republic. Exeen attended private school before training in the Nova Military Academy. After graduation, she was assigned to the Nova Squadron Starship Kri'inlo, under Captain Bejor Katex. She operated first as Weapons Master, then Pilot.

When Mazool rebelled, Katex stayed loyal, and the NSS Kri'inlo remained a Nova Commission ship. But when Mazool sought to prey on the black hole refugees, Katex was enticed by the possibility of loot, and became a spy for Mazool. Exeen discovered his treachery when she was ordered to fly attack patterns on a Nova Squadron battleship. When she threatened to go to the Commission with this information, Katex retaliated by attacking the presidential palace on Quadral, killing Exeen's mother and young sister.

Katex joined Mazool openly, and his ship became the Imperial Starship Kri'inlo. Exeen, believing Mazool was mad and refusing to serve a madman, jumped ship at the next station. She returned to her home to find her mother and sister dead. Enraged, she tried to return to the Kri'inlo and find Katex, but it was too late. Katex had disappeared into Mazool's heirarchy. Exeen was approached by Luna as a potential member of Nova Posse, and she accepted the offer, hoping to protect Dimension X from menaces by anyone, but especially Mazool. One day, she vows, Katex and Mazool will be forced to take the punishment due them.

Powers/Talents: Rave is the only superpowered member of Nova Posse. He is capable of absorbing mass amounts of energy and releasing them in blasts of extreme heat or cold. He is also considered to be one of the best at what he does: that is, engineering.

History: Rave was a talented engineer even before he devoted himself to Nova Squadron. Viril has one of the best training programs for engineers in Dimension X, and Rave was a top graduate in his field of study. Rave would have preferred to serve as a civilian engineer, but it is Virilian tradition that the first-born in every family serves in the Nova Commission and Rave wanted to please his parents. He attended the Nova Military Academy and served out the mandatory 3 years he owed the Commission for his training. Then, released from obligation to his family and the Nova Commission, he joined the crew of the MS Kang as Ships' Engineer.

Luna Azul sought him out when she formed Nova Posse, knowing him to be a powerful mutant of his species, as well as one of the best engineers in Dimension X. He joined, both for the adventure, and for the opportunity to further his powers and his engineering talents.

History: Trip was born on Earth, but abducted by an alien race while still an infant. Her kidnappers were apprehended by Nova Squadron, but since they did not know where to return Trip to, she was placed in an orphanage-school on a Nova Commission space station. Like many of the orphans on the base, she went directly from the school to the Nova Military Academy. Unlike many of the others, she excelled in the study, operation, and repair of shipboard electronics systems. Trip seemed to have a gift for computers and electronic devices, and needed little training to help her natural quickness of eye and hand. (Both essential when risky and rapid repair jobs become necessary on board ship, which they often do.)

After graduation, Trip was assigned to the NSS Dr'il as Assistant Technician. After several years of excellent work, she felt she could not excel in her field as a mere Assistant, and her Captain would not promote a female. (Unfortunately, much of the Nova Commission had/has this attitude.) Trip requested transfer to the NSS Jar'il, where she was made Chief Technician almost immediately. For 2 years, Trip was content with her life, but then Luna Azul proposed that she join Nova Posse. Trip felt she was stagnating in her Nova Squadron position, and relished the opportunity to be total master of all shipboard electronic functioning, so she resigned her position and joined the Posse.

Powers/Talents: Grotto's best weapons are quite undeniably his bare hands. He is immensely strong, and while his size lowers his dexterity, his hand-eye coordination (like that of all Nova Squadron members) is excellent. Grotto is a good shot with pulser and with shipboard guns.

History: Grotto was born on Drexel to a warrior clan. He is the first person in his family in over 400 years Standard to leave the planet after warrior training. His received his planet's warrior training with aptitude and patience, but when he came of age, he left the planet to attend the Nova Military Academy. Upon graduation, he was assigned to the NSS Trink'upl as Gunner's Mate. He was quickly promoted to Rear Gunner, and remained in that position on the NSS Trink'upl for 5 more years.

When Luna approached him to ask if he would join Nova Posse, Grotto agreed simply for the novelty of it. Also, he and Rave were close friends for a year in Academy, and Rave always knows what Grotto is trying to communicate. Even Luna cannot judge him that well.

History: Zebulon was a good student in Academy, though not an outstanding one. Therefor, it took him the normal 3 years to rise from Gunner's Mate to Rear Gunner. The assumption of that position on the NSS Troya, however, proved to be a disaster. In his final combat sequence, Zebulon panicked, and 2 crew members of the Troya were badly wounded. Rather than being demoted, Zebulon was transferred to the NSS Kil'int, where he served 6 years as Forward Gunner, a position in which he did much better. So much better than he was promoted to Weapons Master.

When Luna Azul came hunting for him 3 years later, he was more than happy to see his old Academy buddy, who had also served with him on the NSS Troya. It was partially as a favor to an old friend, and partially out of hatred and disgust for Mazool (at the Academy in the same period as Zebulon) that Zebulon was willing to take a status cut, leaving his position as NSS Kil'int Weapons Master to become Freedom One's Forward Gunner.

Powers/Talents: Bullet-proof hide (although susceptable to laser blasts); really, really strong and tough; telepathic, but only with Sarnath; Qark is also very intelligent for an animal.

Former Occupations: Seeing-eye dog; faithful companion.
History: Long ago, an alien race called the Mergia created the Triasts to serve them. But the Triasts were sentient, and revolted. They used Mergian technology to create the Battle Beasts to fight at their side. When the battle was won, the Mergia refused to grant the Triasts sentient rights and fled the planet. One Mergia robbed his Triast, Sarnath, of his three eyes. Using his telepathic link with his Battle Beast, Qark, Sarnath could see. The two traced Sarnath's master to Earth, but it was too late: the alien was dead, and two of Sarnath's eyes were lost.

In a struggle with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Qark was captured and unveiled on a local TV station, along with the Turtles. With the TMNT's help, Qark was returned to Sarnath. The whole group (turtles, Sarnath, Qark, Ninjara) set off for a vacation in Dimension X. But on their way home, Sarnath's ship was attacked by four Aerwyl fighters, and the turtles bailed out. During the battle, Sarnath's ship plunged into the black hole. Sarnath only had time to jettison Qark's small escape pod. He was picked up by Nova Posse with the turtles, and stayed on the ship through most of their adventure as they tried to defeat Mazool.

When it was all over, Sarnath was gone to places unknown the TMNT returned home, and Qark was adopted by the Nova Posse. Qark does not seem to be in mourning, and because of his special telepathic connection with Sarnath, he is the only one who can provide a reliable answer to the question: "What the heck happened to Sarnath?" Since Qark seems convinced that Sarnath is alive, we can only assume the same, and hope as Qark does that he will return to Dimension X.
